🛡️ Our Commitment to Child Safety
At Atserai, the safety and well-being of all users, especially minors, is our highest priority. We have implemented comprehensive policies and technologies to protect children from abuse, exploitation, and harmful content. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE).
1. Policy Against Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation
Atserai strictly prohibits any content, behavior, or activity related to the sexual abuse or exploitation of children. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM): Any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a minor
- Grooming: Building emotional connections with minors to gain trust for exploitation
- Solicitation: Requesting or attempting to obtain sexual content from minors
- Sexualization of Minors: Content that sexualizes, eroticizes, or otherwise inappropriately depicts minors
- Child Sex Trafficking: Any facilitation or promotion of child trafficking
- Child Exploitation: Taking advantage of minors in any harmful way
Immediate Action: Any user found to be engaging in or promoting child sexual abuse or exploitation will be immediately and permanently banned from our platform, and we will report such activity to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and appropriate law enforcement authorities.
2. Age Requirements and Verification
2.1 Minimum Age
Users must be at least 13 years of age (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction) to use Atserai. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
2.2 Age Verification Measures
- Self-declaration during account creation
- Automated age detection algorithms
- Manual review of flagged accounts
- Additional verification when suspicious activity is detected
- Cooperation with parents and guardians to verify minor accounts
2.3 Parental Supervision
We strongly recommend that minors (ages 13-17) use Atserai under parental supervision. Parents and guardians should:
- Monitor their child's use of the platform
- Review events their child wishes to attend
- Discuss online safety and appropriate behavior
- Report any concerning interactions or content
- Use privacy settings to limit their child's exposure
3. In-App Reporting Mechanism
3.1 How to Report
Atserai provides multiple ways for users to report safety concerns:
- In-App Reporting: Report button available on all profiles, posts, and events
- Direct Messaging: Contact our safety team directly through the app
- Email: safety@atserai.app for urgent safety concerns
- Anonymous Reporting: Option to report without revealing your identity
3.2 What to Report
Please report any of the following immediately:
- Suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)
- Grooming behavior or inappropriate contact with minors
- Requests for sexual content from or of minors
- Bullying or harassment of minors
- Events that may endanger minors
- Any other child safety concerns
3.3 Our Response Process
- Immediate Review: All reports are reviewed within 24 hours, with CSAM reports prioritized immediately
- Investigation: Our trained safety team investigates the reported content or behavior
- Action: We take appropriate action, including content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban
- Reporting to Authorities: We report illegal activity to NCMEC and law enforcement
- Follow-up: We provide updates to the reporter when possible

- PhotoDNA Hash Matching: Automatically detects known CSAM images
- Machine Learning: AI-powered systems detect potentially harmful content

- Behavioral Monitoring: Identifies suspicious user patterns

5. Compliance with Child Safety Laws
Atserai complies with all applicable child protection laws and regulations, including:
- COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act): US federal law protecting children under 13

- UK Age Appropriate Design Code: Standards for services used by children

6. Mandatory Reporting to NCMEC
When we become aware of apparent CSAM on our platform, we are legally required to report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). Our process includes:

- Providing all required information to law enforcement
- Cooperating fully with investigations
- Maintaining records as required by law
